Das Quartet

-

The world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra has been the only organization that has insisted on only male members since its foundation, under the pretext of preserving its own musical tradition and history, and it is the last orchestra to open its doors to female members.
While many Asians are already actively working in important positions in other world-renowned orchestras, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra still has no purely Asian members.
That is why the formation of the Das Quartet, which consists of female members, has many meanings in the conservative Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
The use of the neuter definite article Das instead of Die, which is the feminine definite article in German, also contains a message of eliminating the distinction between men and women in the traditional male supremacy of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Also, although it is a female quartet, it creates new power through music on stage on an equal perspective with men, not from a feminist perspective, and shows that music has no gender distinction. The Vienna Philharmonic has about 10 female members, most of whom are on the violin part, and Ursula Wex and Daniela Ivanova on the cello and viola are the only official female members of the cello and viola parts.
The leader is Ekaterina Frolova on the first violin, and the second violin is composed of Martina Miedl, Daniela Ivanova on the viola, and Ursula Wex on the cello.
The first female members of the world-class Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra show the essence of Viennese music.
